Therapy Services

about
Helen Croza, MA
Therapist, Mentor, and Guide
I offer individual therapy to women who are wanting support to make changes in their life.
You may feel stuck in some aspect of life; unhappy and tired of habits, relationships, or work that is draining and does not feed your soul.

Some of the reasons that women seek my help:
- Using food, alcohol or shopping to cope with life.
- Health issues and chronic pain.
- Grief and loss.
- Life transitions – parenting, menopause, or divorce.
- Stress, overwhelm, low self-esteem.
- Unhealthy relationships.
Maybe you experience anxiety or depression. These can be signs of unresolved emotional wounds or trauma – recently or in childhood.
My perspective is holistic…
so I frequently ask about the bigger context of a problem. Family, health, culture, school, religion/beliefs, and early childhood.
“You either walk inside your story and own it, or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.”
– Brené Brown

What is Somatic Psychotherapy?
As a Somatic (Body-oriented) Psychotherapist I take a holistic approach to therapy. “Soma” is the Greek word for experienced body versus our material body – tissue – what can be measured or seen. Working somatically means to tune into the felt-sense of our body. Our bodies hold information about our past, our true feelings and emotional trauma. By including your body in therapy as well as your thoughts, you are able to tap into feelings and experiences that have shaped you.

Often you may logically know that a behaviour or relationship doesn’t serve you, but still feel stuck and unable to change.
I help you access the deeper and unconscious influences that are at the root of the issue. Working with the body is essential to healing trauma and helping to “rewire” the survival patterns to thriving habits.

Though I’m trained in bodywork, the therapy session is not “hands-on”.
The sessions look like traditional counselling where I sit across from you. I work with the breath, sensation and movement to guide you into your body. The psychotherapy models I draw from include: Somatic, Humanistic, Relational, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural, and Existential.
